Summary: In this review, we dive into the most popular ice bath plunges of 2025 from reputable brands, to find out which ones give you the best bang for your buck.
Comfortable Ice Bath & Water Chiller (cools to 5°C) featuring 20-micron filtration.
Highlights: Free UK shipping. 24 months warranty. Try it risk free for 30 days. Easy returns
The Pod Company is a super impressive wellness brand with a simple yet complete product range, and attention to detail + quality to say the least. They offer both a round and long ice bath (for extra comfort), a high performance chiller and a wide range of accessories. From just £698 you are sorted with an ice bath + chiller, which is completely unheard of in the ice bath industry.
They do also offer their tubs as standalone (from £79-£249), and sell these 3 lb. ice bricks which you simply fill with water, and freeze in your home freezer. 6-9 of those and you don't have to purchase ice cubes to keep it cold. We do recommend the chiller though, as it's just so convenient, sanitary & easy. Plus, in the long run it will save you money.
The chiller ensures that your water is always exactly at the temperature you desire (down to 5°C), and your water will remain sparkling clean too with it's continuous flow and 20-micron filtration (no more hassle with buying ice).
It's designed for both indoor and outdoor use, highly energy-efficient and quiet (same energy and noise level as a fridge).
This sounds too good to be true, what's the catch? We thought the same but after seeing their ads everywhere, researching them more, being assured with their 24 month warranty, and seeing their 2,000+ 5-star reviews on Trustpilot, we took the chance to review the product.
After 3 months of daily plunging, we can confidently say that this ice bath set up is the perfect rig for 99% of people. It delivers the same ice cold and clean water consistently, as the comparable £3,500+ ice baths. The build quality is impressive and their warranty + satisfaction guarantee seems to hold up based on our own experience and from online reviews. The Chiller we received had a small scratch/dent in the paint that likely happened in delivery transit (no even their fault), so we called their support phone and immediately got a sincere apology, and they promptly sent us a new chiller unit - this is how any company should treat their customers.
This is by far the best value option out there, as other plunges with the same features are at least 5x the price of this setup. Our experts would recommend all beginners and seasoned plungers this setup, even if you have £5,000+ to spend, we actually don't believe the huge markup of other competing plunges are worth it.
Included: Ice Tub + Chiller (cools down to 0°C) Cover + 1 Service
The Brass Monkey plunge delivers exactly what it promises. A genuine cold-water immersion experience with clean, filtered water. It lives up to the essential requirements. But when you look at the price tag (in the ballpark of £14k) and compare it to other models offering similar cooling and filtration features for a fraction of the cost, the value proposition becomes harder to justify.

Sure, the design is indeed sleek, and it may have a few extra bells and whistles, but in terms of value for money, there’s really no reason to spend five times more for a plunge that doesn’t stand out enough to warrant the hefty price tag. At the end of the day you get the same clean and cold water here as you do with the options we tested for under £1,000.
If you have the space and are willing to spend almost £15,000 this is an option. If your main objective is simply “cold and clean water for immersion” you can find options at significantly lower cost that perform nearly as well, perhaps not with the same finishing touches or brand prestige, but sufficient for daily use. Ultimately, you get the same essential functionality: cold, clean water to dip into so unless the premium styling, bespoke profiles and branding matter a lot to you, it’s difficult to see why you’d spend five- or ten-times more.
Included: Ice Barrel + Lid + Chiller
The Ice Barrel has been around for years, and so we had to test this one too. Coming in at £1,095, it gives you everything you want: low temps, full body immersion and decent build for a home cold plunge.
On the minus side, for what you’re paying you will get similar performance (cold + immersion) from simpler, lower-cost units. If your goal is just “cold plunging” and you don’t care as much about the bells & whistles, you might feel you’re overpaying. It’s a good product, but whether it’s worth it depends heavily on how much you’ll use it, how much you care about the premium look, and how much space you have.
If you are specifically looking for a barrel design, this might be your best option. However, at over £1,000 we were disappointed that this option is actually not fully insulated, since it’s just plastic that, while thick, does not insulate the water like some of the other options. The value provided does not justify the extremely high price point in our opinion. Our recommendation if your budget is less than £1,000 is pick #1.
Whilst this product looks very cool, the overall package is a serious hit to the wallet and doesn't offer many more benefits than the ice baths and chillers for under £1,000.
Do it yourself plunge such as a DIY chest freezer ice bath.
You might have seen a lot of videos on youtube about the DIY cold plunges, converting a chest freezer or hooking a hardware store chiller to a stock tank. This could be a fun project, but there are major safety concerns around electrocution here. chest freezers and aquarium chillers are not made for this purpose, and therefore when using them you are putting yourself at a big risk of electric shock. Additionally, it quickly runs up in cost when converting a chest freezer for example, and it easily costs £1,000 + a lot of man hours before you're done. Our experts therefore believe you're better off spending the same and getting a £1,000 setup (our top pick) where you also have a warranty and company standing behind the product should you ever have issues.
